NINA PAPA

​Née à Santo Antônio de Pádua en 1971 , elle commence à chanter à l’âge de 15 ans dans la chorale du collège dirigée par Celine Lavaquial qui fut formée à la faculté Villa Lobo. Par la suite, elle participera à plusieurs festivals brésiliens. 

De 1990 à 2001 elle s’installe à Saint Martin et fera plusieurs tournées dans les Caraïbes. Elle se produit régulièrement dans des lieux comme la Sammana, le Carl Gustaff, le Méridien, le Guahanani…

Depuis 2002 elle réside dans le sud de la France où elle exerce son talent dans des établissements prestigieux, comme le 3.14 à Cannes, le Byblos à Saint-Tropez, l’Hôtel de Paris à Monaco, ou l’Hôtel Martinez à Cannes entre autres. Elle se produit aussi dans les festivals de jazz comme, le Festival de la Voix à Ajaccio, le Rhinno Jazz, le Jazz à Juan… Avec les musiciens du “Jobim Project”, elle poursuit sa route dans de nombreux festivals de l’hexagone.

Son premier album, “Senza Fine” est très typé bossa nova et s’inspire de Carlos Jobim, Elis Regina, Cole Porter, Chico Buarque et Billy Hollyday.

Le deuxième album, “Evidencia”, est plus jazz, mais n’en oublie pas moins la samba et les rythmes brésiliens. La touche est plus acoustique et plus intimiste.

Nina Papa was born in 1971, in the city of Santo Antônio de Pádua, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She started singing at the age of 16, as part of a choir directed by Celine Lavaquial, who was graduated from Villa-Lobos faculty. Quite soon she began to take part in the Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) festivals.

In 1990, she moved to Saint Martin Island, in the Caribbean’s French portion. From then until 2001, she participated in several events across the Caribbean: La Samanna, Le Carl Gustaf, Le Méridien and Le Guanahani, among others.

In 2002, she reached the south of France, where she was able to show all her talent at prestigious places, such as Le 3.14 (Cannes), Le Byblos (Saint-Tropez), l’Hôtel de Paris (Monaco), Hôtel Martinez (Cannes) … Besides that, she participated in important jazz festivals: Le Festival de la Voix à Ajaccio, Le Rhino Jazz, etc.

Nowadays, Nina integrates a lot of musical groups and takes part in different projects – for instance, The Jobim Project across the French Riviera.

Her first album “Senza Fine” is inspired by idols such as A. C. Jobim, Elis Regina and Chico Buarque. Moreover, artists like Cole Porter and Billy Holiday have also had influence over her work.

The Second one, “Evidencia” is a bit less bossa nova, more jazz and acoustic, same sound as she nowadays use to have on stage.
